Holiday Cottage To Rent Horton in Ribblesdale, Yorkshire Three Peaks
Horton-in-Ribblesdale is a village located within the Yorkshire Dales National Park and is close to the source of the River Ribble. A popular base for walkers, many of whom are completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, Pen-y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside. Being within the limestone area of the Yorkshire Dales Horton-in-Ribblesdale is also popular with cavers, pot-holers and anyone looking for stunning countryside.
The village has two traditional pubs, The Crown lies right on the Pennine Way and welcomes weary travellers with log fires, local ales, as does the Golden Lion which has stone flagged floors in the bar area especially for those with muddy boots and muddy paws. You will find the celebrated Pen-y-Ghent cafe and shop in the centre of Horton. It is known as the official start and timing point for the Three Peaks Walk because of the old ticket punching machine inside. A short drive away are the popular market towns of Settle and Ingleton, each having plenty of quirky shops, tea rooms and Dales pubs.
